Managed to see The Simpsons Movie (2007) today. Before moving onto the actual movie, people have talked about a Simpsons Movie for the longest time, many animated series and come (and many finished) since The Simpsons first came onto the air as a series in 1989 and have ventured onto the big screen: Beavis and Butthead, South Park, The Powerpuff Girls, Rugrats, Doug, Hey Arnold, The Wild Thornberry's, Spongebob Squarepants and probably more I can't remember at the minute.

So a show like The Simpsons, which was probably an influence on many of these actually getting onto television was when it came to making a movie, actually lagging behind the pack...anyway, onto the movie, the first thing I want to say: It is funny, Homer in love with a pig is great, a lot of other little moments, however, it doesn't feel like a film, it just feels like a part four episode cut together ***SPOILER ALERT*** Bart exposing himself feels like the only thing we'd have never have seen on the series ***END OF SPOILER***

I'm just going to write a short review of The Simpsons Movie, time is against me. Overall, I recommend watching it, don't expect anything too different from the animated series, but there is a lot of high quality laughs.

South Park

South Park is one of the funniest shows on television at the minute. I think the last few seasons it's constantly been better then The Simpsons (will stay go down in history as the Big Kahuna though) and certainly better then Family Guy (a show I like just not love). The reason the thought of the Simpsons because two recent(ish) episodes of both shows have covered roughly the same ground THE WORLD OF WARCRAFT EPISODES

This previous Sunday so the premiere episode of "Marage Gamer"- a Simpsons episode where Marge becomes addicted to a internet game not too disimilair from World of Warcraft called Earthland Realms, she finds out Bart is the most feared and destructive player. In the 10th season South Park episode "Make Love, Not Warcraft" -In the game world comes under jeopardy when one player begins going around killing people, after losing to him in a mass battle, the players decide to increase their levels to the top level. What I like about is when the characters are sat at the computer they look anything other then heroic, spot ridden, going to the bathroom where they are set, I like it cause it reminds of the ex-husband of somebody I know, who became so obsessed it buggered up his real ife.

Both feature a game player going around commiting senseless acts, but there aren't too many similarities really deep down, South Park is the better spoof and does a better representation of online gaming.

THE 24 EPISODES

"24 Minutes" is an 18th season episode of the Simpsons, Bart and Lisa joins forces to stop the school bullies letting off a stink bomb at the school bake which actually features cameos from Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub. I thought was a really week episode, you take away the flash of it trying to look the style of 24 (which it does well) it's rarely that funny. However, the 11th Season South Park episode "The Snuke" is also a parody of 24. There is a new Arab kid in class, whilst trying to persucate him Cartman accidently stumbles on a unrelated plot to assassinate Hilary Clinton. It's actually quite a good parody of how dumb bigotry can be whilst The Simpsons I think makes the mistake of setting it all in Springfield Elementary.

Compare there take on the same spoof (not a criticism here) The Simpsons almost seem quaint by comparison, South Park as somebody being killed by Hilary Clinton's foofoo and the episode ending with the Queen blowing her own brains out.

First Update of August

Been somewhat away from a computer for the last weekish or so. Anyway a quick catch up on my life at the moment.

Ran my first filmmaking workshop as tutor last Wednesday, it exceeded all expectations in quality. All my students (I have an hard time calling them that for some reason) where very keen and eager and in two hours we brainstormed an idea for a film, came up with some scenes, shot the scenes, edited it which included adding musical and sound effects aswell as credits and showed the film on our big screen. All in two hours, I impressed myself there. My only worry his I set the bar a little too high for future workshops.

In other news, I should be back updating this regular after the week off, everything seems to have sorted itself out.

What I've been watching.

The West Wing: Really getting into Studio 60 in the Sunset Strip and the quality of that made me decide I wanted to revist the first season of this classy drama. Like I said in an earlier post Bradley Whitford's Josh was probably my favourite WW character (Leo, C.J. and Toby are very close though). I just love the interaction between the characters in this show.

Seinfeld: I am working my way through the first and second season. George is easily my favourite character ---Jason Alexander is just so perfect for the role---, It's been said before it's a show about nothing and that's why people love it.

Saturday Night Live: Will go more indepth with this in a later post. Really digging John Belushi and Gilda Radner on this first season though.

I think I'm going to see The Simpsons Movie tonight. I didn't want to see it the first week cause of the annoying kids in the cinema.

Still ill, still very tired.

Just watched loads of television today, nothing groundbreaking, plenty of stuff I'd seen before, episodes of That 70s Show, Grounded for Life, Frasier, King of the Hill, Malcolm in the Middle, The Simpsons, aswell as Veronica's Closet (which was Mary Lynn Rajskub's first appearence in the show- I like her), haven't put a DVD on only really had energy in little spurts.

Finished the Top 10 Shortlived shows, appears under the date I began, feel like I've done something wrong there.
